Flip the Script on the past 400+ years. Begin June 2026. Bank Black. It's as simple as that!

Rev. 6/2/2026

Banking culture and kinship is normal.

People often choose banking relationships based on trust. That trust is frequently strengthened when leadership reflects their culture, community, values, faith, or shared experiences.

Virtually every prosperous community intentionally supports its own financial institutions before its dollars circulate into the broader economy.

African Americans began building that tradition after Emancipation, but those efforts were disrupted during the end of Reconstruction by forces that feared the combined influence of Black economic and political power.

Today, some still fear the growing influence of Black banking. They are fighting the wrong battle.

When African Americans prosper, America prospers.

The greatest obstacle to revitalizing Black economic strength is not external opposition alone—it is often our own mindset.

Some Inconvenient Truths

Some African Americans have grown weary, cynical, or disengaged from collective economic activism. They view distance and indifference as safety. I get that. Yet economic vulnerability affects us all.

Some simply do not know that Black-owned banks and credit unions remain viable options in many states. I was there until just 15 years ago! Awareness is the first step. https://BlackOutCoalition.org

Some fear potential backlash if significant dollars move from Eurocentric owned institutions to Black-owned institutions. Economic self-determination should never require permission.

Some have chosen convenience over cultural stewardship and feel little obligation to continue the economic work begun by previous generations. Thanklessness.

Yet there are others.

The modern Tubmans, Douglass's, DuBois', Fannie Lou Hamers, Malcolms, the Congressman John Lewis', and Kings...A critical mass of 15,000+ of you are out there!

You are the people who are fed up and willing to step up—to build, invest, support Black-owned institutions, and help shape a stronger future.

Thank God for you.

Until we intentionally direct a meaningful portion of our savings, investments, and banking relationships toward Black-owned financial institutions, our economic influence will remain underutilized. We are still "on the plantation" economically.

Black-owned banks have survived and endured against tremendous odds. Their longevity is evidence of resilience, financial prudence, and determination.

June 2026 can be a turning point.

Bank Black. Build. Churn. Thrive. Yes, it's that simple.

Disclaimer: Now don't get it twisted. I am not proposing that you take all your money out of one basket and put it in another. It's a balance. Yet, certainly, if what has been stated in this article resonates positively with you, consider opening an account at a bank that reflects your cultural kinship.
